The involvement of key users and stakeholders is vital for the success of LAMPRE. The Stakeholder User Group (SUG) is established with two main objectives:
- exposing a qualified audience of existing and potential end users and stakeholders to the results of LAMPRE, thus facilitating the up-take of the project results and
- obtaining from the same audience of qualified end users and stakeholders feedback to further improve the quality and usability of the products designed and delivered by LAMPRE.
The Stakeholder User Group (SUG) will comprise organisations in Europe and worldwide, including CPAs, technical and geological surveys, space agencies, image and service providers, including core and downstream services.
ROLE OF THE STAKEHOLDER USER GROUP
The SUG will be responsible for providing a source of strategic guidance of products development, user take-up and sustainability of products and tools. The SUG has the mandate of advising on products and services specifications during their development, thus to give a significant contribution on take-up assessment.
The SUG will also advise on the general framework, the user interface, and on governance aspects related to the proposed prototype service. A specific task of the project (WP8) consists in evaluating the economic and technologic sustainability of the prototype service, contributing to deciding on appropriate take-up activities.
The research and development activities executed in LAMPRE will be driven by clearly defined user needs and specifications. An explicit task of the SUG will be to determine the suitability of the user needs and specifications proposed in a wider physiographic, geographical and organizational context, to provide feedback, and to suggest correction actions, if necessary.
A task of LAMPRE is to provide procedures for improved image processing, and criteria for evaluating the quality of landslide inventory maps, and landslide susceptibility models and zonations. With regard to this, another task of the SUG will be to examine the rationale for the proposed procedures and criteria, and to evaluate their applicability in different contexts, contributing to enhancing operational capacities of different organizations, and at different scales.
Individual members of the SUG, and their organisations –where applicable – will be asked to contribute to the dissemination of the project results by providing addresses of additional potentially interested users in their respective countries for sending advertising materials and to link the LAMPRE website to their Institutional or personal web-sites.
