D.4.1 EO Service Logbook Establishment Report

Executive summary:

Earth Observation Service Log-book for the LAMPRE project team was established on the basis of FOSS solution called ELOG, created back in 2000 at PSI in Switzerland to facilitate a series of complex scientific experiments. ELOG software was installed on a production server by a project partner GMX and a dedicated log-book was designed and deployed along with the
other production log-books used by the company. The log-book service can be accessed by
registered users from the LAMPRE project team directly from the project web site or a web
site of GMX.
After an extensive testing and a series of structural improvements, the EO Service Log-book
was opened to a large group of LAMPRE project partners, who started using the service in
summer 2013. The service will be maintained during the project and later will become a part of GMES Landslide DSS.
Each posting in the EO Service Log-book database contains 3 standard and 4 customised
classification categories (ID, Date, Author, Task, Status, Dataset and Location). Customised
categories have from 9 to 12 original keywords (39 in total), which can be used to define
virtually any type of posting, related to EO data search, ordering, delivery, processing, analysis
and quality control. All customised keywords are described in detail in the current report along with practical recommendations on using standard combinations of keywords for different thematic postings (use-cases). The report contains a lot of practical recommendations on deployment, configuration, customisation and general use of the Log-book service.

Status: Public

The report presents the results of WP4 leaded and carried out mostly by GMX . The report comprises the results of rapid technological developments carried out by the company and its owner personally during a series of successful RTD and GMES production projects over the last 5 years.
